Asst. Prof. İrfan Şimşek the Vice Dean of Hasan Ali Yücel Faculty of Education and academic at Computer and Instructional Technologies Department studied on online education and 3D virtual learning environments at Melbourne University, where he worked as an invited researcher in 2008. In 2015, he had been to Northern Illinois University as a guest lecturer with the sponsorship of TUBİTAK 2219 Post-Doctoral Research Scholarship Programme. Then, he studied on The Affects of The Roles, Expertise and Cultural Background of Instructional Designers in Online Learning Environments on Problem Solving in Technology, Distance Education and Pedagogical Subjects.

He worked as a project coordinator and researcher on national and international projects, four of which were European Union.

He has been presenting various workshops and seminars about technology integration, augmented reality, virtual reality, technology addiction to teachers and students. Asst. Prof. İrfan Şimşek is interested in integration of education and technology, virtual reality, augmented reality, STEM and educational technology.
