Tuncer Can, PhD 2011, from Istanbul University, English Language Teaching Department where he currently lectures. MA completed in 2004 on "Constructivism”. In 2005, being granted a Fulbright Scholarship he spent two terms at Syracuse University, NY, USA, where he taught Turkish via Videoconferencing. Besides training pre-service language teachers, he taught English at all levels at Turkish Air Force Academy and has organized teacher training courses at the Language Center of Istanbul University since 2007. His research ranges from Constructivist Approach to using 3D Virtual Learning Environments and VR in the context of foreign language learning and instruction. He has also managed and partnered in many projects like "Establishing the Virtual Campus of Istanbul University on 3D VLE," funded by Istanbul University Research Center and "CAMELOT – CreAting Machinima Empowers Live Online Language Teaching and Learning", “YouRNI – Integration of Young Refugees – using mobile devices leading to better language acquisition and relevant career guidance”, “TABLIO – Tablets for classroom differentiation and inclusion”, and “GUINEVERE – Games Used IN Engaging Virtual Environments for Real-time language Education funded by EU Lifelong Programme and Erasmus+. Asst. Prof. Tuncer Can has participated in the establishing of IU HAYEF Learning Center, where pre-service teachers have the opportunity to develop many ICT skills that are required to teach in the modern world.
