Uğur Batı-About the Author

Born in İstanbul in 1975, Uğur Batı received his undergraduate degree from Boğaziçi University. He earned an M.A. degree on the Social Sciences Institute of Marmara University. He completed his doctorate studies in the same university. Uğur Batı also holds M.A. degrees on Marketing Management and General Business Administration from the Social Sciences Institute of Yeditepe University.

Batı started his career as copywriter with dBO. He worked as copywriter and strategist in various advertising agencies including Fora, Konsept and CP, and continued to work in the fields of training consultancy and training marketing with Persona EduTraining. Batı took part in a number of corporate projects in İstanbul Tarih Vakfı (İstanbul History Association). Thereafter, he worked in the content and marketing department of Webbee of Rumeli Telekom, brand management department of Telsim, and sales management department of Unitel. He worked on localization of Microsoft, İş-Tim Aria and Oracle projects, and authored texts for these brands. He worked as instructor at Yeditepe University Faculty of Communications while writing advertorials for the University’s corporate communications department. He was appointed as assistant associate professor of Advertising Design and Communications Department of Yeditepe University in 2005. At end- 2006, he started to work as creative director for Gode İstanbul advertising agency for a term of 2.5 years, and went back to Yeditepe University Faculty of Communications Advertising Design and Communications Department in 2010. He authored numerous prize-winning advertising texts and developed strategies for national and international brands. Batı also lectured at various universities and gave professional trainings. Batı was awarded associate professor title in 2012, and worked as consultant for numerous brands.

Batı writes for a number of magazines including Harvard Business Review Turkey, Bloomberg Businesweek Turkey, Brand Map, Radikal 2, www. Milliyet.com.tr, Gennaration, Pazarlama İletişimi, Pazarlama Dünyası, The Brand Age, Grafik Tasarım, Sivil Toplum, Martı, Adam Sanat and Adam Öykü periodically and has numerous articles published in national and international refereed journals.

Batı is in charge of media relations in several European Union and World Bank projects, and has authored texts for TV programs as well. Furthermore, Batı wrote the following books (in Turkish):

Reklamın Dili (The Language of Advertising), Stratejik Marka Yönetimi: Vazgeçme Çağında Yüksek Sadakat Markaları Yaratmak (Strategic Brand Management: Creating High Loyalty Brands in the Age of Renouncement), Personality Analysis with Enneagram: Take a Good Look at Yourself) and Digital Games: “Live in your own World, Play in Ours”). Uğur Batı was the Corporate Communications Director of Borsa İstanbul (former İMKB), and Vice Chairman of Advertising Creators Association.
