As teachers, we are trying to encourage our students to develop 21st century skills. What about ourselves? How can we, teachers achieve to think critically, communicate and collaborate more effectively? This workshop will provide you with some tips to be more efficient 21st century teachers. It will also demonstrate some student centred activities which will incorporate fun into your classroom.

“21st century skills” has been one of the most popular and inspirational titles in ELT nowadays. In today’s world, teachers do not only act as the “master” of the class but also play the role of a “student” as a lifelong learner. Students are involved in their own learning process and learning is moved beyond the walls of the classroom instead of limiting it in the school. Throughout this journey, teachers who want their students to use 21st century skills may also need help in using these skills effectively. In this workshop, teachers will be given some tips and ideas to have good command of critical thinking skills. They will have an opportunity to discuss and share their ideas about communicating and collaborating more effectively. Teachers will also be offered some samples of student centred activities which can be adapted to all levels and ages. By presenting a variety of activities to engage students in active learning, the workshop will focus on different ways of using and increasing creativity as well. With the help of all these ideas, it is aimed to help the teachers to rethink about their “21st century skills” and attitudes which will directly affect their 21st century classroom positively.
