As recently as 2009 OECD stated that “...there is little existing research that focuses on how educational spaces are used as tools to facilitate the changing needs and demands of curriculum and pedagogy. However a growing body of literature highlights the need for learning environments to better respond to these needs and demands.”

In this talk I will present an account of the British Research Council sponsored research which sought to address this matter. A subsection of the data which were gathered in 5 schools in one town in the South East of England and in a group of primary schools in the West Midlands will be drawn on to discuss the relationships between design and pedagogic practice. Particular reference will be made to the implications for students of moving from primary to secondary school.

We are looking forward to working with you

All the best
